Bitcoin Holds Near $82,000 as Polkadot Posts Steeper Weekly Loss
Bitcoin was down 1% over seven days in a Monday evening check, while Polkadot was down 6.7% despite a 7% gain over 24 hours.

Bitcoin (BTC) traded near $82,000 Monday evening as Polkadot (DOT) posted a steeper weekly loss, with Bitcoin holding roughly 60% of crypto market value despite its own decline.
At about 5:50 p.m. ET (21:50 UTC) Oct. 19, Bitcoin was near $81,984, down 1% over seven days. Polkadot traded around $1.13, down 6.7% for the week despite gaining 7% over the preceding 24 hours.
Ether (ETH) was down 4.8% over seven days, while Solana (SOL) had lost 3.5%. The differences show that several major tokens had fallen further than Bitcoin over the same period.
Bitcoin accounted for 60.2% of total crypto market value in one evening reading. A separate reading updated at 5:41:45 p.m. ET (21:41:45 UTC) put its share at 59.62%. That measure compares Bitcoin’s market value with the entire crypto market; it can remain high while Bitcoin’s price falls if other tokens decline faster. An Oct. 8 selloff also saw major altcoins fall more sharply than Bitcoin.
Bitcoin’s displayed 24-hour trading range late Monday ran from $81,049.39 to $83,035.40. Its seven-day low was $79,805.99.
