Bitcoin (BTC) was down about 2% since the start of October on Monday, Oct. 19, as U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $228.4 million in redemptions last week.

BTC traded near $82,393 on Monday, up about 2% over the previous day but still lower over seven days. The ETFs give investors exposure to Bitcoin through shares held in brokerage accounts. The redemptions do not establish why investors withdrew money or what drove Bitcoin’s price move.

October has finished higher for Bitcoin in 10 of the past 13 years, a record behind the market nickname “Uptober.” That history does not determine how October 2026 will end. Bitcoin gained nearly 6% over a 30-day stretch in September.

The October decline follows earlier signs of cooling buying pressure. A previous update on Bitcoin ETF flows covered activity through Oct. 13.

The Federal Reserve’s next policy meeting is scheduled for Oct. 27-28.
