Coinbase users can now direct software agents to trade perpetual contracts through connected language models, adding an automated route to crypto derivatives on the exchange.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced the feature. Users can connect a language model of their choice, then use an agent to execute perpetual-contract trades on the platform. The feature is effective immediately.

The update adds agent execution to Coinbase's trading workflow: a customer connects a preferred language model, then an agent carries out a perpetual-contract trade. The rollout focuses on perpetual contracts, and the feature is available now.

Coinbase is a cryptocurrency exchange where customers can buy, sell and trade digital assets. This route allows customers to use an agent for perpetual trades on the platform after connecting a language model of their choice. Armstrong's announcement ties the model connection to trade execution and presents agents as the means of carrying out those trades.
