Bitcoin (BTC) traded near $82,000 on Oct. 19 as U.S. spot exchange-traded funds posted about $230 million in weekly net outflows and spot takers remained net sellers, showing that buying remained weak.

BTC was about 2% lower than a week earlier. The ETF figure covers the week through Oct. 18. Broader profit-taking had cooled since early October, but the fund outflows and spot trading still pointed to limited demand.

Earlier in the month, profitable holders who had owned BTC for fewer than 155 days accounted for about 86% of coins sent to exchanges on Oct. 4. That was the largest daily share in a year, compared with a typical share below 40%. Bitcoin closed above $85,000 that day before retreating.

The 86% figure measures the group’s share of exchange deposits, not the number of coins transferred. Deposits can precede sales, but they do not establish that every coin was sold. An earlier measure of short-term holder transfers tracked the amount of BTC sent to exchanges separately.
