Bitcoin Open Interest Rises 2.17% to $7.79 Billion in Five-Asset Snapshot
Dogecoin had the highest funding rate, while Ether had the largest share of long accounts in the Oct. 19 snapshot.

Bitcoin (BTC) open interest rose 2.17% to $7.79 billion in an Oct. 19 snapshot, leading five crypto assets while positive funding rates meant long positions paid shorts across the group.
The reading was taken at 7:07 p.m. ET (23:07 UTC). BTC’s mark price was $82,008, and its funding rate was 0.0099% every eight hours, or 10.8% annualized. Long accounts made up 62.3% of the total.
Open interest measures the value of outstanding derivatives contracts. It does not, by itself, show whether traders expect prices to rise or fall: every contract has a buyer and a seller. In perpetual futures, a positive funding rate means traders holding long positions pay those holding short positions.
Ether (ETH) had the largest share of long accounts at 75.2%, compared with 24.8% short. Its open interest rose 0.82% to $5.49 billion, while its mark price stood at $2,406. Funding was 0.0059% every eight hours, or 6.4% annualized.
Dogecoin (DOGE) recorded the highest funding rate in the group at 0.0100% every eight hours, or 10.9% annualized. Its open interest edged up 0.11% to $212.2 million. Accounts were 71.8% long and 28.2% short, and its mark price was $0.0796.
Solana (SOL) open interest fell 0.31% to $925.2 million. Its funding rate was 0.0088% every eight hours, or 9.6% annualized, with 70.8% of accounts long. SOL’s mark price was $104.99.
XRP had the largest open-interest decline among the five assets, falling 0.88% to $412.2 million. Its mark price was $1.30, and funding stood at 0.0059% every eight hours, or 6.4% annualized. Long accounts represented 72.7% of the total.
Open interest increased for three assets and declined for two, even as funding remained positive and long accounts outnumbered short accounts across the group. Account shares describe the number of accounts on each side; open interest describes the value of contracts still open.
In an Oct. 9 five-asset snapshot, BTC open interest stood at $7.64 billion after a 3.79% decline over the preceding 24 hours. Its funding rate was 0.0027% every eight hours at that reading.
