South Korea’s KOSPI closed nearly 4% lower on Oct. 20, while SK Hynix fell 4.22%, after an intraday snapshot showed the index down 2% and the chipmaker down 4%.

Samsung Electronics was down nearly 2% in that earlier snapshot, putting its loss close to the index’s intraday decline and well below SK Hynix’s. At that point, SK Hynix’s drop was about twice the KOSPI’s, while Samsung’s was roughly in line with the index.

The close widened the KOSPI’s decline to nearly twice its earlier 2% loss. SK Hynix’s decline deepened by about 0.22 percentage point, from 4% intraday to 4.22% at the close. The final readings put both the index and SK Hynix near a 4% loss for the session, with SK Hynix slightly lower than the index.

Together, the figures show the index’s decline widening substantially between the intraday reading and the close, while SK Hynix’s loss changed less. SK Hynix ended slightly weaker than the KOSPI, and Samsung Electronics had been down by about half as much as Hynix in the intraday snapshot.
