Monero Gains 11.21% in a Week, but Zcash Retains $7.9 Billion Lead
Zcash was valued at $19.11 billion in an Oct. 18 snapshot, compared with $11.24 billion for Monero.

Monero (XMR) rose 11.21% over seven days while Zcash (ZEC) fell 11.52% in an Oct. 18 market snapshot, but Zcash retained a roughly $7.9 billion market-value lead.
The end-of-day snapshot, taken around 7:59 p.m. ET (23:59 UTC) Oct. 18, put XMR at $597.48 and its market value at $11.24 billion. ZEC traded at $1,129.42 with a market value of $19.11 billion.
The weekly changes show Monero’s stronger price performance over that period. Market value measures the value of an asset’s circulating supply, so the price of one coin alone does not determine which asset ranks higher. Despite their moves in opposite directions, Zcash remained ahead in the Oct. 18 comparison.
An earlier Oct. 18 Monero trading snapshot recorded XMR at $592.13 at 1:03 p.m. ET (17:03 UTC). That reading and the $597.48 end-of-day price were taken at different times.
The weekly comparison also covers a shorter period than a five-month tally of the privacy-coin market. In that tally, the sector gained $24.54 billion in market value, with Zcash accounting for $20.27 billion of the increase and Monero for $4.33 billion. Those figures describe the earlier five-month period, while the Oct. 18 snapshot captures the assets’ later weekly changes and market values.
