Data availability gained 13.5% as the only advancing sector, while the Bitcoin ecosystem ranked last with a 19.1% decline. Of the 25 sectors tracked, 24 fell.

This week, data availability stood alone in positive territory as the Bitcoin ecosystem, file storage, perpetual DEX and gaming sectors posted double-digit losses.

Based on weekly fully diluted market capitalization-weighted performance as of Oct. 20, data availability rose 13.5%. Privacy coins led the declining sectors at -1.2%, followed by social at -1.6%, Bitcoin at -2.0% and exchange tokens at -2.1%. AI slipped 2.3%, while store of value fell 3.0%.

In the middle of the rankings, smart contract platforms declined 3.7%. NFT applications lost 4.0%, Ethereum fell 4.5% and XRP dropped 4.8%. Utilities and services retreated 5.5%, while DePIN fell 6.0%. Memecoins and DeFi declined 6.1% each.

Weakness intensified toward the bottom of the market. Data services fell 6.2%, bridges lost 6.6% and oracles declined 7.3%. Staking services and first-generation smart contracts dropped 7.5% and 7.6%, respectively. Real-world assets fell 8.5%, gaming lost 10.9% and perpetual DEXs declined 11.5%. File storage slid 12.4%, while the Bitcoin ecosystem recorded the steepest loss at 19.1%.

The isolated advance in data availability contrasted with broad weakness across the market. The Bitcoin ecosystem’s substantially larger decline than Bitcoin itself indicated greater resilience in the core asset than in its surrounding ecosystem.
