Northeast Asian LNG Gauge Tops $30 Amid Middle East Shipping Risks
The contract-based measure rose 15.47% over the past month. An LNG tanker came under gunfire off Yemen on Oct. 17.

A Northeast Asian LNG tracking contract reached $30.01 per million British thermal units on Oct. 19, as Middle East shipping risks drew attention to energy costs.
The reading was 0.28% higher than the previous day and 15.47% above its level a month earlier. It tracks the LNG market through a financial contract and is not a price assessment for a physical cargo.
An LNG tanker off Yemen came under fire from a small boat carrying seven people on Oct. 17 at 6:30 a.m. ET (10:30 a.m. UTC). After the tanker's security team fired two warning shots, the boat changed course.
Disrupted Qatari supply has intensified competition between Asian and European buyers for U.S. LNG cargoes. As of midnight ET (4 a.m. UTC) on Oct. 19, EU storage contained 844.87 terawatt-hours of gas, filling 74.58% of capacity. Those inventories are one measure of Europe's supply cushion ahead of winter.
For Bitcoin (BTC), the potential connection is indirect: persistent fuel costs could affect inflation and interest-rate expectations, which can influence demand for risk assets.
