Transocean Ltd. shares rose 4.8% to $5.89 at Monday’s close, finishing above their 20-session Bollinger band on a day when the offshore driller announced two U.S. Gulf contracts representing about $550 million in firm backlog.

The stock gained $0.27 from its Oct. 16 close of $5.62. At the Oct. 19 regular-session close, 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC), it stood about $0.09 above the upper band of approximately $5.80. That band is calculated from a 20-session moving average and two population standard deviations of closing prices.

Transocean announced the two U.S. Gulf drillship awards at 6:10 a.m. ET (10:10 UTC), before the market opened. The timing establishes that the announcement preceded the share-price gain, but does not establish how much of the move the contracts caused.

The Deepwater Proteus award covers 10 wells and an estimated 700 days of work, with roughly $325 million in expected backlog. The Deepwater Conqueror award covers five wells and about 450 days, with roughly $225 million in expected backlog excluding mobilization fees.

Transocean also announced on Oct. 9 that Equinor had granted final approval to an earlier agreement in late September, bringing approximately $1 billion into firm backlog. A separate award accounted for about $62 million.

The Proteus campaign is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, followed by the Conqueror campaign in the third quarter.
