Stacks (STX) traded at $0.3487 on Oct. 20, down 19.9% over seven days, after the network filled its first two Bitcoin (BTC) staking bonds in September and October.

The second bond had reached capacity by Oct. 12, before the seven-day interval reflected in the Oct. 20 price reading. The latest price move followed that deposit milestone; the two figures describe developments on different timelines.

The first bond filled its 230 BTC capacity Sept. 10. A second opened Oct. 8 and drew 505 BTC, taking the combined total to about 735 BTC by Oct. 15. Most of that Bitcoin entered the program after the Sept. 30 end of the third quarter.

The bonds use PoX-5, a Stacks upgrade activated July 30. Participants lock BTC on the Bitcoin network and commit STX on Stacks. The STX commitment determines their bonding capacity, while rewards are paid in BTC. The locked Bitcoin remains under the participant’s custody.

PoX-5 also unlocked existing STX staking positions, requiring holders to commit their tokens again. They restaked 392 million STX shortly after the upgrade. The amount reached 448 million by Sept. 30 and 493 million after the second bond filled. Those figures measure STX committed to the system, separately from Bitcoin deposited in the bonds.

Stacking DAO contributed 483 BTC to the second bond through pooled staking. Its stBTC token represents a pooled position that participants can use in Stacks applications while their BTC is bonded. On Oct. 15, stBTC supply stood at 636 BTC; collateral posted on Zest Protocol accounted for 97% of that supply.

An earlier four-week STX advance put the token at $0.4295 on Oct. 13, compared with $0.2658 on Sept. 13. That longer interval differs from the seven-day decline measured on Oct. 20.

The next monthly bond period is expected to open around Nov. 10.
