U.S. stocks were mixed around the market open Tuesday, with the Nasdaq Composite down 0.49% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average unchanged, leaving the Nasdaq with the largest move among the three major indexes.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.15%. Its decline was 0.34 percentage point smaller than the Nasdaq’s, putting two indexes lower while the Dow held steady.

The figures describe trading around the start of the Oct. 20 U.S. session, rather than where the indexes finished the day.
