Zcash (ZEC) climbed 2.34% in one hour to $1,221 on Binance at 4:30 p.m. ET (20:30 UTC) on Oct. 20, extending its 24-hour gain to 8.11%.

TokenPost calculated the change from public ZEC/USDT spot prices it collected directly from Binance. The asset traded at $1,193 one hour before the $1,221 reading. The two prices provide the basis for the measured one-hour change in that spot market.

During the same hour, TokenPost counted $120,000 in Zcash short liquidations and $10,000 in long liquidations across Binance, Bybit and OKX. A short position is positioned to profit from a price decline. Liquidation is the forced closing of a leveraged position when it no longer meets collateral requirements. Positions betting against ZEC made up most of the measured liquidations.

Zcash ranked 10th among cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, with an estimated value of $20.5485 billion. The price reading covers one Binance spot pair; the liquidation totals cover three exchanges.
