Kraken's USDC-to-Euro Options Show $80 Trading Fee Gap on $10,000 Sale

The comparison uses Kraken's standard 1% instant fee and starting 0.20% stablecoin order book fee. Exchange prices and withdrawal routes affect the euros reaching a bank.

Kraken's instant and order book routes for converting USD Coin (USDC) to euros differ by $80 in trading fees on a $10,000 sale, before exchange prices and withdrawal costs.

At the standard 1% instant trading rate, the fee on that sale is $100. An eligible stablecoin order book trade starts at 0.20% for both maker and taker orders, producing a $20 fee. The $80 gap compares those trading charges alone.

On a $200 sale, the same rates produce fees of $2 and $0.40, a difference of $1.60. Neither example establishes how many euros will reach a bank. An instant quote can include a spread, while an order book trade executes at an available market price.

For customers starting with U.S. dollars, eligible conversions into USDC carry no conversion fee or spread at a 1:1 rate, up to $100,000 a day in each direction. Those terms cover the conversion into USDC; the later sale for euros has its own price and trading fee.

The standard instant fee also does not apply to every customer. Kraken+ waives instant trading fees on eligible app or web trades within $10,000 of monthly volume, although spreads can still apply. That changes the fee comparison for qualifying subscribers.

The bank route adds a separate charge. A standard SEPA withdrawal to an eligible bank account through Bank Frick or Banking Circle carries a listed €1 fee and an estimated processing time of zero to five business days. A separate worldwide EUR SWIFT withdrawal through Bank Frick carries a listed €5 fee, and additional charges may apply.

Kraken allows cash withdrawals only to bank accounts owned by the verified account holder. A sender using their own Kraken account therefore cannot withdraw euros directly to someone else's bank account.

Funding can affect when a customer is able to complete the transfer. U.S. ACH deposits through Plaid are free and available for trading near instantly, but cash and crypto withdrawals face a seven-day hold. A FedWire deposit through Dart Bank is free, has an estimated processing time of zero to one business day and carries no withdrawal hold.
