Bitcoin’s $83,600 Breakout Test Hinges on an Hourly Close
An Oct. 21 BTC/USDT snapshot put Bitcoin at $83,554.00. Daily R1 at $83,911.43 was next if the hourly test was met.

Bitcoin (BTC) was $46.18 below an hourly resistance marker in a BTC/USDT snapshot taken Wednesday, Oct. 21, while a later quote in a different pair did not establish the chart’s breakout condition.
The snapshot put BTC/USDT at $83,554.00, with hourly R1 at $83,600.18. The chart’s confirmation test required a completed hourly candle to close above that level; daily R1 at $83,911.43 was the next level in focus.
The previous completed hourly candle closed at $83,500.01. The chart also marked an hourly pivot at $83,493.83 and S1 support at $83,393.66.
A separate BTC/USD quote was $84,684.33 at 5:24 p.m. ET (21:24 UTC) on Oct. 21, within a 24-hour range of $82,543.44 to $84,840.04. Because it used BTC/USD rather than BTC/USDT, the quote does not establish whether an hourly BTC/USDT candle closed above R1.
The daily chart placed BTC above its 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $82,614.50, its 50-day EMA at $80,681.58 and its 200-day EMA at $75,326.45. The daily MACD histogram remained negative.
The $83,600.18 trigger is above the $82,951.49 threshold in an earlier hourly-close setup.
