Pendle DEX Volume Reaches $159.3 Million as TVL Adds $5 Million
The daily total was about 6.8 times the prior week’s median, but the volume measure does not represent an equivalent amount of new cash entering Pendle.

Pendle (PENDLE) recorded $159.3 million in decentralized exchange (DEX) volume at 8 p.m. ET Oct. 20 (Oct. 21, 00:00 UTC), its highest daily total in 30 days, while total value locked (TVL) rose $5 million across the Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 snapshots.
The total was about 6.8 times the $23.6 million median for the seven UTC days from Oct. 13 through 19. That comparison shows a sharp increase in trading activity against the preceding week’s typical daily reading, but it does not show an equivalent amount of fresh cash entering the protocol. TVL, by comparison, moved from $1.116 billion in the Oct. 20 UTC snapshot to $1.121 billion in the Oct. 21 snapshot.
DEX volume and TVL describe different things. Volume totals trades over a period, while TVL estimates the value of assets held in a protocol at a snapshot.
Pendle enables trades in future yield by splitting yield-bearing assets into principal tokens and yield tokens. Principal tokens represent principal; yield tokens represent future yield. The protocol’s automated market maker allows both token types to be traded. That structure matters to the volume figure because a transaction’s reported size can reflect the underlying position, rather than only the smaller payment for future-yield exposure.
For a yield-token trade, the volume measure counts the size of the underlying position opened, not just the smaller payment for that exposure. It includes trades in Pendle pools and filled limit orders. Minting and redeeming principal and yield tokens are excluded. These rules make the $159.3 million a trading-activity total; they do not mean the same amount in cash was newly placed into Pendle.
Pendle’s fee program directs 80% of protocol fees to active sPENDLE holders through PENDLE buybacks every two weeks. The $159.3 million volume reading does not establish how much additional fee revenue the day’s trades generated.
At 11:09 p.m. ET Oct. 21 (Oct. 22, 03:09 UTC), PENDLE traded at $2.14, down 1.62% over the previous 24 hours. The volume and TVL figures do not establish $2.80 as a next price level.
