Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares had an Oct. 21 intraday high listed at either $543 or $543.34, as Greg Abel entered his first year as the company’s CEO.

The two figures differ by 34 cents. The earlier Class B record close was $539.80 on May 2, 2025, a closing price rather than an intraday high. Berkshire’s 2025 record closes came the day before Warren Buffett announced his planned retirement as CEO.

Berkshire’s board unanimously approved Abel’s appointment on May 4, 2025, with the role taking effect Jan. 1, 2026. Abel began as CEO on that date.
