Bitcoin Falls Less Than Altcoin Indexes as U.S. ETF Inflows Rebound
Three consecutive sessions from Oct. 19 through Oct. 21 brought about $1.1 billion in net inflows to U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell 3.61% on Oct. 22 as indexes tracking smaller-token groups dropped more sharply, while U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) had logged three consecutive sessions of net inflows through Oct. 21.
At 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC) on Oct. 22, Bitcoin traded at $81,394.33. Ether (ETH) fell 4.37% to $2,384.14, XRP declined 6.06% to $1.30 and Solana (SOL) dropped 4.37% to $103.51. The Memecoin Index lost 6.27%, the Computing Select Index fell 6.78% and the DeFi Select Index declined 7.50%.
The comparison shows a difference in the size of daily losses, not a gain for Bitcoin. Bitcoin, Ether, XRP and Solana were all lower at the listed close, while each of the three token-group indexes posted a larger decline than Bitcoin.
ETF net flows were mixed earlier in October. The funds recorded a $261.4 million net outflow on Oct. 14, a $5.1 million inflow on Oct. 15 and an $82.4 million outflow on Oct. 16.
From Oct. 19 through Oct. 21, the funds recorded net inflows in each session. The daily totals were $526.7 million on Oct. 19, $23.2 million on Oct. 20 and more than $500 million on Oct. 21, bringing the three-session total to about $1.1 billion. These are daily net totals across the funds. The latest flow session was Oct. 21; the price figures above are from the following day’s 4 p.m. ET snapshot.
The ETF figures add a new measure to a market period of trading flows shifting toward Bitcoin and Ether as altcoins weakened.
The next scheduled Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting falls Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 27-28.
