South Korea’s KOSPI opened down more than 3%, while Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also fell, putting pressure on the broader market and Asian technology shares.

SK Hynix declined more than 2% at the open, and Samsung Electronics fell nearly 4%. The figures cover three opening moves: the index and shares in both companies. Together, they show that the weakness extended across South Korea’s broader market as well as two technology stocks.

The KOSPI’s decline reflected losses beyond either company’s individual share price, while both companies opened lower alongside the index. That combination marked a broad opening slide in South Korea, with the market benchmark and two technology companies moving down at the same time.

The declines add to pressure on Asian technology shares. For US readers tracking global markets, the opening figures show a sharp drop in South Korea’s index alongside losses in Samsung and SK Hynix shares.
