Spot gold was listed at $3,998.72 per ounce in an Oct. 23 market snapshot, below the $4,000 threshold. The quoted price was $1.28 under that level, and the snapshot showed a 0.63% decline for the day.

The reading came after spot gold fell below $4,080 per ounce on Oct. 22.
