Sei (SEI) Falls 7.89% in Daily Session; Giga Targets 200,000 TPS
The first phase of Giga’s Eidos storage work reached mainnet in August, while the 200,000 transactions-per-second figure remains a target.

Sei (SEI) fell 7.89% on OKX in the daily session ending Thursday, Oct. 22, closing at $0.05811, while the available figures do not connect the decline to a network change.
The bar opened at $0.06309 at noon ET Wednesday, Oct. 21 (16:00 UTC) and closed at 11:59 a.m. ET Thursday, Oct. 22 (15:59 UTC). SEI had already retreated toward $0.060 after nearing $0.081 around Oct. 1, a move covered in earlier coverage of the token’s October retreat.
Sei’s Giga upgrade is being rolled out across releases. The first phase of Eidos, the storage component, reached mainnet with the v6.6 release in August 2026. More Eidos work and Ares, the execution component, are planned for later releases. Autobahn, the consensus component, is scheduled for a later release.
Sei’s stated Giga goal is 200,000 transactions per second (TPS), a target rather than current throughput. “Both need to keep pace with the 200,000 TPS that Sei Giga is targeting,” Sei said of Ares and Eidos.
Separate network measures show about $31.5 million in Sei DeFi total value locked (TVL) in an Oct. 23 snapshot. Another Oct. 23 snapshot listed eight real-world asset (RWA) assets on Sei, with $291.1 million in distributed value and 2,557 holder addresses. Those addresses do not establish a count of unique investors or measure demand for SEI.
The price, upgrade and activity figures describe separate developments; they do not identify a cause for the Oct. 22 decline.
