Bitcoin has weakened alongside U.S. stocks as concerns over borrowing by AI infrastructure companies spread, and QCP Capital’s latest market analysis identifies credit conditions as a near-term driver for risk assets.

CoreWeave bond yields climbed to about 15%, and its shares fell about 10% Thursday, Oct. 22. The figures have sharpened investor focus on the cost of financing AI infrastructure with debt, companies’ ability to repay it and whether returns will justify heavy capital spending. Scrutiny has also extended to earnings prospects and spending commitments at newer cloud infrastructure firms.

The concerns span financing costs, debt repayment and expected returns on AI spending. Earlier coverage examined AI-linked credit-default-swap trading, another measure of market activity around AI-related corporate borrowing.

France’s 10-year government bond yield moved above 5.1%, while its spread over the German equivalent widened to about 170 basis points. The rise reflected greater concern about European sovereign credit and fiscal risks. Middle East tensions pushed Brent and WTI crude oil to five-month highs, adding uncertainty around inflation and monetary policy.

Markets see almost no chance of a Federal Reserve rate hike in October, while confidence in a rate cut in December has weakened. Capital has shown a trend toward longer-term U.S. Treasuries and other relatively safe assets as investors weigh tighter credit, slower growth and inflation pressure.

Bitcoin’s recent weakness alongside U.S. stocks highlights its sensitivity to shifts in broad investor risk appetite. BTC has yet to show a price direction separate from traditional markets, leaving credit-market changes among the short-term factors for Bitcoin and other risk assets.
