U.S. spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs recorded $137.9 million in net outflows Friday, Oct. 23, extending withdrawals to a second straight trading session, while spot Ether (ETH) ETFs had $4.4 million in net inflows.

Bitcoin ETFs also posted net outflows Thursday, Oct. 22. Ether’s $4.4 million gain was about 3.2% of the amount withdrawn from Bitcoin funds and was modest beside the $3.1 billion in net inflows spot Ether ETFs recorded during the third quarter.

ETF net flows reflect share creations and redemptions during a trading session. An outflow means redemptions exceeded creations, while an inflow means creations exceeded redemptions; those totals do not by themselves explain why investors bought or redeemed shares.

The day’s results paired consecutive withdrawals from Bitcoin funds with an Ether inflow that was a small fraction of the third quarter’s total. The Oct. 23 figures cover one trading session, while the $3.1 billion figure covers the full third quarter.
