Bonk Guy said he lost an eight-figure sum within minutes during the Oct. 10, 2025, market crash and attributed his loss to systemic failures at major centralized exchanges. He said he then lost several million dollars more over the following weeks and months while overtrading to recover the money and prove his ability.

In a post on X, Bonk Guy said trading skill, experience and a well-developed system cannot guarantee consistent profits. Strategies that work in bull markets may fail in bear markets, he said, with trading opportunities often concentrated in particular market phases.

He said traders need to recognize when their advantage has faded and argued that consistently outperforming the market over long periods is nearly impossible. Waiting through unfavorable conditions is part of trading, he said.

Separately, Bonk Guy’s portfolio was valued at $8.9 million on Oct. 24, $18.7 million below its Sept. 6 peak.
