Fed Week Brings a Temporary Five-Hour New York-Berlin Time Gap
The Federal Reserve’s Oct. 28 statement falls at 7 p.m. Central European Time (CET). Deribit’s monthly Bitcoin (BTC) options expire at 4 a.m. ET Friday.

A one-week gap between U.S. and German clock changes puts the Federal Reserve’s Oct. 28 statement at 7 p.m. CET and Deribit’s options expiry at 9 a.m. CET Friday.
The Federal Open Market Committee is scheduled to meet Oct. 27-28. Its statement is set for 2 p.m. ET (1800 UTC) Wednesday, Oct. 28, followed by a press conference at 2:30 p.m. ET (1830 UTC). Those times are 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. CET in Germany.
Germany moved its clocks back one hour on Oct. 25, while U.S. daylight saving time continues through Nov. 1. Berlin is five hours ahead of New York during the intervening week.
Deribit’s monthly Bitcoin options expire Friday, Oct. 30, at 4 a.m. ET (0800 UTC), or 9 a.m. CET. The clock shift affects the European local-time conversion, not either event’s U.S. schedule. The New York-Berlin difference returns to six hours after U.S. daylight saving time ends Nov. 1.
