On Friday, Oct. 23, Kraken opened trading in Spice (SFI), Saffron’s governance token, adding an exchange venue as Saffron’s vaults target potential future fees from Uniswap v3 positions.

The exchange opened trading on the date Kraken had previously scheduled for the listing. Saffron’s current vaults exchange payments for potential future fees from Uniswap v3 concentrated-liquidity positions.

The fixed side supplies a position and receives an upfront payment. The variable side pays that amount for potential fees the position may generate over the vault’s lifetime. Those fees accrue only while the market price stays within the position’s selected range, and stop when it moves outside.

SFI is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum used for Saffron governance. Its contract has a supply cap of 100,000 SFI. SFI access via Kraken’s app or Instant Buy requires sufficient market liquidity; availability may vary by location.

Saffron’s earlier tranche mechanism, released in October 2020, and a later insurance mechanism have been deprecated.
