Retail applicants in Jio Platforms Limited’s IPO had an estimated 70% chance of receiving a 12-share allotment after bidding closed Oct. 23, despite the offering’s 22.19-times overall subscription.

About 10.1 million retail applications competed for roughly 7.09 million lots reserved for that group. That works out to about seven available lots for every 10 applications. The estimate describes the retail allocation, rather than the level of demand across the entire offering.

The overall subscription figure combines bids from separate investor categories. Qualified institutional buyers sought 70.55 times the shares reserved for them, but those bids did not compete for retail lots. The number of retail applications is therefore the relevant comparison for estimating how many applicants could receive a lot.

Jio Platforms is the parent of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), which served 533.3 million customers as of June 30. The IPO also drew interest from crypto markets: Bitget introduced a Jio-linked perpetual futures contract ahead of the offering. That contract does not confer ownership in Jio Platforms.
