Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, fell below $80,000 and traded at $79,904 on Binance's spot market at 9:28 a.m. ET (13:28 UTC) Monday.

The desk's own spot-price record placed BTC at $80,176 on the same market 15 minutes earlier, at 9:13 a.m. ET (13:13 UTC). The earlier price was above $80,000; the later price was below it. Both readings refer to Binance spot trading, so the comparison uses the same asset and market.

At the 9:28 a.m. ET observation, BTC was down 0.79% over the preceding hour. That percentage covers a longer period than the 15 minutes between the two quoted prices. The hourly change and the two spot prices describe separate measures ending at the later observation.

The move crossed a round-number level for crypto's largest asset. The $79,904 figure is the Binance spot price recorded at 9:28 a.m. ET, rather than a price covering every exchange or the entire trading day.
