Dutch Measure Values Household Crypto Holdings at €3.2 Billion
The June 2026 figure covers crypto held through domestic service providers, excluding foreign providers, personal wallets and indirect investments.

De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) published its first direct-holdings tally on Oct. 27, valuing crypto assets held for Dutch households through domestic crypto-asset service providers at €3.2 billion at the end of June 2026.
That balance equaled about 1.4% of the €234.2 billion households held in listed shares, investment funds and bonds at the same time. Bitcoin (BTC) made up €1.5 billion of the crypto total, while Ether (ETH) accounted for €300 million. Virtually all measured household holdings were unbacked crypto-assets; backed stablecoins represented less than 1%.
Businesses and other Dutch sectors held a further €200 million through domestic providers, bringing the total across sectors to €3.4 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026. The providers include firms offering custody, portfolio management or crypto trading platforms.
The tally excludes crypto held with foreign providers, in hardware or software wallets, and through indirect investments. A separate measure of indirect crypto investments across households, businesses and institutions totaled €1.2 billion in October 2025. That measure included ETFs, exchange-traded notes and shares in crypto treasury companies, so it covers different sectors and instruments at a different date.
The June 2026 tally is a first snapshot. It does not give a count of crypto-owning households or establish whether direct holdings have risen or fallen over time.
