South Korea’s KOSPI rose 4% in Tuesday’s session as Samsung Electronics gained 6% and SK Hynix advanced 4%, with both stocks posting gains at or above the index’s move.

At 8:51 p.m. ET Tuesday (00:51 UTC Wednesday), the KOSPI’s daily increase had widened to 4%. Samsung’s gain was 2 percentage points larger than the index’s, while SK Hynix’s matched it.

The KOSPI is identified as Korea’s stock index; the other two figures are gains for individual shares. The 4% reading describes the index’s daily move, while Samsung’s 6% and SK Hynix’s 4% refer to those companies’ share prices.

In the three reported readings, Samsung posted the largest increase, and the index and SK Hynix showed equal gains. The snapshot describes an intraday move and does not give a closing result for the session. The gap between Samsung and SK Hynix was also 2 percentage points, matching Samsung’s lead over the index.
