South Korea’s KOSPI Gains 6% as Samsung Electronics Rises 9%
SK Hynix shares climbed more than 8%, also outpacing the benchmark.

South Korea’s benchmark equity index climbed 6%, while gains in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix outpaced the broader market, making the two semiconductor stocks the standout company moves in the latest market advance.
Samsung Electronics rose 9%, three percentage points above the KOSPI’s gain. SK Hynix advanced more than 8%, exceeding the benchmark by more than two percentage points. On a relative basis, Samsung’s increase was 1.5 times the index’s rise, while SK Hynix’s was more than one-third larger.
The figures show a rally across South Korean shares alongside still stronger moves in the two chipmakers. The KOSPI’s 6% advance shows the move extended beyond either company on its own, while the larger stock gains identify semiconductor shares as the sharpest part of the market performance. That contrast shows how chip shares amplified the broader advance. The rally puts South Korean equities and chip stocks in focus for global market watchers.
