Seagate Technology shares fell 5% in early trading Wednesday, Oct. 28, after the company’s fiscal first-quarter 2027 results showed slower exabyte growth than in the previous quarter. Management described the slowdown as a temporary timing issue.

Most analysts viewed the share decline as a buying opportunity. They pointed to strong pricing and expected growth in exabyte shipments.

One analyst downgraded Seagate, pointing to possible capacity expansions by Toshiba, competition from Western Digital and expectations for more moderate price increases across the industry.
