A trader placed new short-opening trades totaling about $9.51 million in Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 contracts ahead of the U.S. market open Friday, Oct. 30.

The account held about $7.29 million in XYZ100 short positions, with an average price of $28,796.94. Its SP500 short position was valued at about $2.4 million, with an average price of $7,646.54. Together, the positions were worth about $9.7 million.

The SP500 position had changed from long to short. The $9.51 million figure measures new short-opening trade volume during the half-hour; it does not establish a same-sized net increase in the account’s exposure.
