AstraZeneca shares rose more than 6% Friday after third-quarter profit topped expectations, while four other drugmakers advanced and all five stocks reached all-time intraday highs.
Eli Lilly and Gilead Sciences each gained more than 4%. Amgen rose nearly 3%, and Johnson & Johnson climbed nearly 2%.
The advances came as the U.S. drug-stock sector continued to rise during Friday's session.
