The three latest cycle lows for Bitcoin (BTC) came 13 to 71 days after U.S. midterm voting, a historical comparison revisited as Americans vote Tuesday, Nov. 3. The record covers three Bitcoin cycles; a separate stock-market comparison spans 21 midterm-year periods.

The low came 71 days after the 2014 midterms and 39 days after the 2018 election. In 2022, it came 13 days after the vote. The interval narrowed in each successive example. A prior TokenPost comparison covered the same three cycle lows.

The S&P 500 posted a positive return in each of 21 periods running from November through the following June. The index’s average gain across those periods was 16.6%. That record covers more periods than the three-cycle Bitcoin comparison, and measures stock returns rather than the timing of Bitcoin lows.

The election includes all 435 seats in the House and 35 of the Senate’s 100 seats. Control of either chamber could affect the progress of crypto-related legislation and regulatory initiatives at the SEC and CFTC.
