Nikkei 225 Falls More Than 3% as KOSPI Drops as Much as 2%

The declines reversed the Oct. 22 pattern, when the KOSPI fell 3% and the Nikkei 225 declined 2%.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell more sharply than South Korea’s KOSPI in Asian trading on Nov. 4, reversing the relative size of the two indexes’ declines on Oct. 22.

The Nikkei 225 dropped more than 3% during the Nov. 4 session. The KOSPI fell as much as 2% intraday, leaving its reported decline at least 1 percentage point smaller than the Nikkei’s.

On Oct. 22, the KOSPI was down 3%, compared with a 2% decline for the Nikkei 225. That Oct. 22 trading comparison puts the latest moves in the opposite order, with Japan’s benchmark recording the larger drop.
