Dow Leads U.S. Stock Indexes With a 2.27% Intraday Gain
The S&P 500 rose 0.99%, while the Nasdaq Composite added 0.07%, leaving all three benchmarks higher.

U.S. stock benchmarks were all higher in intraday trading Wednesday, led by a 2.27% advance in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The move put the Dow well ahead of the other two indexes: the S&P 500 rose 0.99%, while the Nasdaq Composite added 0.07%.
The three indexes shared a positive direction, but their gains varied sharply. The Dow’s percentage increase was 1.28 percentage points greater than the S&P 500’s and 2.20 percentage points greater than the Nasdaq’s. The S&P 500’s gain exceeded the Nasdaq’s by 0.92 percentage points.
The Dow’s 2.27% advance also exceeded the other two gains combined, which totaled 1.06%. The Nasdaq’s 0.07% rise left it close to unchanged, while the S&P 500 stood between the Dow’s larger increase and the Nasdaq’s near-flat move. All three changes were intraday figures for Nov. 4; they do not state where the indexes closed.
