Global solar stocks advanced Wednesday, Nov. 4, as Democratic gains in U.S. midterm races lifted expectations for stronger renewable-energy support and greater resistance to President Donald Trump’s agenda.

South Korea’s Hanwha Solutions Corp. was among the gainers. The move came after elevated options activity in solar-linked assets before the vote.

SolarEdge options volume was on pace for about three times its average Tuesday, with calls representing more than 75% of activity. Prediction markets had priced in a large Democratic victory, and traders had focused on solar stocks as potential beneficiaries of Democratic leadership. Earlier coverage of election-day options activity in solar-linked assets detailed that pre-vote positioning.
