U.S. stock futures climbed Wednesday, with Dow futures adding 724 points as Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress and the clear election result eased political uncertainty.

The Dow futures gain was 1.4%. Futures tied to the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 each advanced about 1%, putting all three major U.S. stock-futures measures higher.

The gains followed steep overnight losses, reversing the futures market’s earlier direction. Democrats also won key governor races, including Texas, alongside their wins in the House and Senate. The clearer election outcome came as the three futures measures moved higher.

Dow futures posted the largest percentage gain among the three, at 1.4%, compared with about 1% for each of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures. Together, the advances marked a recovery across the U.S. stock futures cited after the overnight losses.
