Bitcoin Slides $4,000 and Falls Below $76,000 for Third Time in 2026
Its 5.6% 24-hour loss exceeded the declines during two earlier breaches of the same level this year.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell about $4,000 and slipped below $76,000 on Thursday, a 5.6% loss over 24 hours and its third break beneath that level this year.
The decline unfolded in a continued slide, with the approximate $4,000 move carrying BTC through the threshold. The 5.6% daily loss was larger than the declines tied to Bitcoin’s two earlier breaches of $76,000 in 2026.
Bitcoin also fell below $76,000 on April 28 and Aug. 23. Those earlier moves came with 24-hour declines of 2.28% and 1.9%, respectively, making Thursday’s 5.6% reading more than twice either comparison.
The sequence puts the latest drop in context with two prior breaks of the same level this year. Thursday’s slide was the sharpest of the three by 24-hour percentage loss. The roughly $4,000 movement and the 5.6% daily figure measure the same downturn in dollars and percentage terms.
The earlier 2.28% and 1.9% losses were also daily readings, allowing a comparison of the three moves over 24 hours. By that measure, Thursday’s drop was more than double each of the previous declines.
