South Korea’s KOSPI Narrows Loss to 6.8% After Trading Resumes
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each remained down about 7% in the update at 7:36 p.m. ET Thursday.

South Korea’s KOSPI index was down 6.8% after trading resumed Thursday evening in the United States, while Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each remained about 7% lower. The market update came at 7:36 p.m. ET Thursday (00:36 UTC Friday), shortly after the index reopened.
The KOSPI had triggered a circuit breaker before trading restarted. Its decline narrowed to 6.8% following the pause, and the losses in Samsung and SK Hynix also eased to around 7%. The move put the benchmark and both technology stocks in a similar range, with each still sharply lower.
The update highlights the reach of the selloff across South Korea’s market: the index and two named technology shares were all down by roughly the same amount after trading resumed. The pullback in losses was partial, leaving the KOSPI 6.8% lower and the two stocks down about 7%. Those figures describe a weaker market snapshot following the halt, rather than a gain for any of the three.
