Central Securities Sets $3 Year-End Distribution for Shareholders
Shares are the default payment, but shareholders can elect cash by Dec. 2. The company estimates $1.39 per share will be ordinary income and $1.61 long-term capital gain.

Central Securities Corporation set a $3-per-share year-end distribution for its common stock on Nov. 4, with payment due Dec. 18 to holders on the Nov. 16 record date.
The distribution will be paid in additional shares unless shareholders elect cash by Dec. 2. Holders with brokerage accounts should submit their cash election through their broker. The record date determines which shareholders qualify for the payment.
For a stock payment, the company will multiply the number of shares a holder owned on the record date by $3, then divide that amount by the reinvestment price. The price will be the lower of the stock’s market value or net asset value per share on Dec. 2. Market value will use the average daily volume-weighted average prices for the three trading days ending on and including Dec. 2, rounded to two decimal places. Fractional shares will be paid in cash.
Central Securities estimates that $1.39 per share will be taxable as ordinary income and $1.61 as long-term capital gain. The company expects the same tax treatment whether shareholders receive cash or shares. The final tax breakdown for amounts paid during 2026 will be available after year-end.
Central Securities is a closed-end investment company. Its common stock trades on NYSE American under the ticker CET.
