Bitcoin options open interest fell 9.91% from the previous day to $30.93 billion, with calls accounting for 56.23% of outstanding positions. Puts represented 52.47% of 24-hour trading volume and occupied all three leading contracts by volume, suggesting demand for short-term downside protection.

Bitcoin options positioning showed a split between bullish exposure in outstanding contracts and caution in daily trading. Calls held the larger share of open interest, while puts led turnover.

As of 12:20 UTC on November 6, 2026, total Bitcoin options open interest stood at $30.93 billion, down from $34.34 billion the previous day. Options trading volume over 24 hours totaled $7.96 billion.

Calls accounted for 56.23% of open interest and puts for 43.77%. By 24-hour trading volume, calls represented 47.53% and puts 52.47%.

The call-heavy open interest mix suggested a greater weighting toward bullish exposure in accumulated positions. The larger put share of trading volume was consistent with demand for downside protection, although these proportions alone do not establish traders' intentions.

[Editor's note] Options are derivatives used to take leveraged exposure to an underlying asset's price or hedge existing positions. Calls give holders the right to buy at a predetermined price, while puts give holders the right to sell, subject to the contract's terms. Open interest measures outstanding contracts and indicates the accumulated size of positions.

Call and put shares, together with changes in open interest and volume, help distinguish accumulated positioning from shorter-term trading activity. A rise in open interest indicates an increase in outstanding contracts, but does not by itself establish a directional outlook. When calls dominate open interest while puts lead volume, bullish exposure can coexist with defensive trading or responses to volatility.
