AI-linked companies drove more than half of the S&P 500’s nearly $32 trillion rise in total market value from ChatGPT’s release through Nov. 3, concentrating the increase among 10 firms.

U.S. stocks fell sharply on Nov. 6 as the prospect that newly elected Democrats could slow data-center construction helped trigger a selloff.

The AI boom’s market exposure extends beyond technology companies. Power generators, turbine manufacturers and uranium miners have tied their growth to the trend, and their shares now move with the broader AI industry.

Retirement portfolios also carry technology exposure: about 44% of U.S. pension holdings, or $610 billion, is linked to the sector.
