Vitalik Buterin Calls Crypto Privacy the “True Alpha” of Blockchain

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is once again championing privacy as the most underappreciated strength in the crypto space. In a recent post on X, Buterin emphasized that privacy is the “true alpha,” a critical pillar alongside scalability and decentralization in preserving user autonomy in an increasingly surveilled digital world.

Buterin’s stance goes beyond theory. He’s actively promoting the integration of privacy-enhancing technologies, such as zero-knowledge proofs, into Ethereum-based applications. These cryptographic tools allow users to prove data without revealing it—transforming privacy from an ideal into a functional feature.
