Kevin O’Leary Backs Only Bitcoin and Ethereum, Ditches All Other Cryptos

Canadian entrepreneur and “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary has reshaped his cryptocurrency strategy, declaring that he now invests exclusively in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Known as “Mr. Wonderful,” O’Leary insists that holding these two digital assets provides more than enough exposure to the crypto market, making other tokens unnecessary.

“You don’t need to own any of those to get exposure to whatever you think the value of crypto is,” he explained, emphasizing that Bitcoin and Ethereum dominate daily market discussions. According to him, owning BTC and ETH exposes investors to over 90% of the alpha and volatility in the entire crypto space.

O’Leary, who has been both a critic and advocate of digital assets in the past, says his conviction in the two leading cryptocurrencies stems from their growing institutional acceptance. He highlighted Bitcoin’s role as a store of value, predicting it could reach $250,000, while Ethereum, he believes, will benefit the most from the rise of stablecoins and on-chain finance. With the U.S. moving toward regulatory clarity through a stablecoin bill, O’Leary sees Wall Street increasingly transitioning to blockchain networks, with Ethereum leading that demand.

While many altcoins continue to lure speculative investors, O’Leary has firmly turned away, claiming meme coins and smaller projects lack long-term significance. “Sometimes volatility is good, sometimes bad,” he said, noting that the real utility lies in Bitcoin and Ethereum’s dominance.

Currently, more than 10% of O’Leary’s net worth is tied to Bitcoin and other crypto-related assets, underscoring his confidence in the future of these two market leaders. For him, the choice is clear: “Why own anything else? I don’t anymore.”
