Cardano Discord Migration: Hoskinson Moves Community Discussions Away From X

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is preparing a major Discord migration initiative aimed at shifting community discussions away from X (formerly Twitter) and into dedicated, moderated channels. Working alongside EMURGO CEO Phillip Pon, Hoskinson plans to create a new Cardano Discord server while continuing to use the existing Midnight Discord community for engagement.

Although Hoskinson intends to keep livestreaming on X, where he has nearly one million followers, he confirmed that future Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions will source questions exclusively from the Cardano and Midnight Discord servers. The move is designed to encourage more productive conversations and reduce the growing tensions that have recently affected the Cardano ecosystem.

The decision comes after several weeks of controversy surrounding Cardano governance, treasury spending, and historical ADA transfers. Hoskinson temporarily stepped away from X in late May, arguing that his role was not to influence or “pump” the price of Cardano (ADA). He returned to the platform on June 8, but disputes within the community continued, including debate over a proposed $2 million Singapore summit that divided voter sentiment.

Responding to criticism, Hoskinson dismissed recurring allegations as fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), describing them as temporary controversies that distract from meaningful progress. He stated that the new Discord channels would provide a more positive environment where constructive discussions can take place without the negativity often found on social media platforms.

Phillip Pon’s involvement adds significant credibility to the initiative. As the CEO of EMURGO—one of Cardano’s three founding organizations—his participation suggests the project is part of a broader community strategy rather than a personal experiment by Hoskinson.

The Midnight Discord already serves as a central hub for Cardano’s privacy-focused partner chain, which launched in April. The planned Cardano Discord server would expand that approach to the wider ecosystem. While no official launch date or moderation framework has been announced, interest within the community continues to grow.

Meanwhile, ADA price performance remains under pressure. Cardano’s native token recently traded around $0.17, posting a modest daily gain of approximately 2%. However, ADA has declined nearly 39% over the past month and remains significantly below its 2021 all-time high of $3.09. With a market capitalization of roughly $6.3 billion and daily trading volume near $458 million, Cardano remains one of the largest cryptocurrencies despite recent losses.

Hoskinson has also hinted at a broader governance overhaul planned for 2027. As a result, the Discord migration appears to be one component of a larger effort to reshape Cardano’s governance structure, community culture, and decision-making process. The coming months will reveal whether ADA holders embrace Discord as the primary platform for engagement or continue relying on X for community interaction.
