Veteran trader Peter Brandt has issued a bullish XRP price outlook, suggesting the cryptocurrency could eventually climb above $5 as momentum returns to the broader digital asset market.
Brandt shared a long-term XRP chart on X showing a potential move toward $5.40. According to his technical outlook, XRP could break above the key $5 psychological level by next year if the projected trend develops.
The forecast comes as cryptocurrencies stage a broad recovery. Bitcoin surged to an eight-month high of $87,000, while XRP climbed above $1.50, gaining more than 8%, according to TradingView data.
XRP's latest advance has coincided with stronger on-chain activity. Large holders have increased their positions, XRP Ledger transaction activity has risen, and derivatives open interest has climbed, indicating growing market participation during the rally.
The cryptocurrency has also recovered despite the recent setback for the CLARITY Act in the U.S. Senate, where lawmakers failed to secure enough votes to invoke cloture on the crypto legislation. XRP had been viewed as one potential beneficiary of greater regulatory clarity because of its connection to Ripple. Following the vote, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the company had "never been stronger."
Meanwhile, crypto analyst Ali Martinez sees additional upside for XRP in the near term. Martinez identified $1.60 as the next important price target after whales accumulated more than $2 billion worth of XRP.
Citing on-chain data, Martinez said there appears to be relatively limited resistance before $1.60. Around 2.5 billion XRP previously changed hands near that price, making it an important area to watch for increased selling or profit-taking.
XRP's ability to sustain its recent momentum will likely depend on continued whale demand, broader crypto market strength and its ability to clear the $1.60 resistance zone. A successful breakout could keep attention on higher targets, while Brandt's longer-term chart places $5.40 as a potential level if the bullish structure continues.
