WTO Deputy Director-General Says AI Development Is in a Boom Period
Johanna Hill said the effort will involve AI economic systems, related systems, data centers, other infrastructure and practical applications expected to spread worldwide.

Johanna Hill, deputy director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), said AI development is in a boom period, with growth centered on building economic systems, infrastructure and practical applications.
Hill said Oct. 8 that the effort will involve an AI economic system and related systems, including data centers and other infrastructure.
It will also include practical applications designed to bring AI into real-world use, with those applications expected to spread worldwide.
The remarks place infrastructure development and broader deployment of AI applications at the center of the industry’s current expansion.
