Nick Ducoff, head of institutional growth at the Solana Foundation, said infrastructure developed for meme coins could support Solana’s tokenization efforts, including tokenized equities and related financial applications.

“People used to ask me if meme coins were holding Solana back on institutional adoption. I said no, the opposite,” Ducoff said.

Developers across the Solana ecosystem have built primitives for meme coins that may also apply to tokenized equities. Ducoff described those tools as part of a development base that could help Solana pursue financial products for institutional users.

The Solana Foundation supports startups and developers building decentralized applications and financial solutions on the network. The Foundation identifies institutional growth and tokenization-related financial solutions as priorities.

Ducoff’s remarks do not establish that meme-coin infrastructure has already produced institutional adoption. They present it as a possible pathway for tokenized equities and related financial applications on Solana.
